Day 29 – Tuckertown , Rhode Island

Hi, friends, it’s me, DeeBee, back to fill you in on my adventures and experiences while Geri and Don were gone to Long Island. I must tell you that Gracie was a wonderful hostess during my stay with her and Joanne, and hardly ever left my side while I was here. When Geri and Don left on Thursday night, I spent a lot of time just looking out the door, waiting for them to come back for me. But Joanne explained that they would be gone for several days, and I should just chill out and enjoy myself for a few days. Well, I didn’t need any further invitation. Joanne made a very nice bed for me in her bedroom, near Gracie’s, and I slept there very comfortably. We had morning walks just like I always do with Don, and got to meet some of the neighborhood dogs and kids! One of the dogs we met just about every morning was Fraser, Gracie’s son, who was a very playful guy, and even enticed me into doing a little playtime with him and Gracie.

Joanne’s house is very dog friendly, with an enclosed porch at one end where we can go if we want to be out, but not really out in the yard. But if we really do want to go out, all we have to do is ask her, and she’s very cooperative. I understand why Geri and Don like her so much, she is really friendly and accommodating, and she obviously has a thing for good dogs. That counts for a lot!

Gracie and I did a good job of coordinating our nap times, so that Joanne didn’t have to deal with our needs individually. We think we are a really good team, working hard to keep our needs well coordinated and be as little trouble as possible, while keeping our entertainment value as high as we can. We never quibble over food or treats, though we do tend to show up for petting together, and sort of demand equal treatment in this regard.

This truly was a vacation for me, away from the excitement of motorhome travel, and the sometimes high drama of being with Geri and Don when things aren't going exactly right.  Nonetheless, I was very happy to see them return Monday evening, and so was Gracie!  The more loving humans the better!  But I'll shack up with Joanne anytime they want me to.
