Day 32 – Tuckertown , Rhode Island
It’s kinda strange, having another dog in the coach overnight; it’s not that I feel displaced or crowded in any way, I still get to sleep wherever I want. I think maybe it’s more of a feeling of responsibility for my guest, not just seeing that her needs are met foodwise, I know Geri and Don will take care of that. But she needs to know some of the peculiarities of living aboard a motorhome, like how to go up and down the steps properly, or how to stay out of the way when the slides are being pulled in. I try to show her how these things work, and I think she’s catching on pretty quickly. She’s a pretty smart dog!
Don took us out for a nice walk after breakfast, and Gracie got to see a lot of the RV Park and get an appreciation of how big it is. Don kept her on the long lead, ‘cause she has a tendency to go darting off, and she isn’t familiar with his voice commands, like I am. But she really enjoyed walking through the woods and getting new smells of plants and animals who have passed through there. I treed another errant chipmunk, who had a little trouble locating a convenient tree immediately. When we got back to the rig, we had to go through a major exercise to dump the tanks. Our site doesn’t have a sewer connection, so Don had to prepare the coach like we were going to hit the road, except he only drove about 100 yards over to where the dump station is. When the deed was done, he reparked it in the same spot and set it up for living again. We all got in the truck then, and cruised over to Joanne’s place.
We had expected that Joanne’s young house guests, Matt and Marie, would have shown up by now, but there was no evidence of their presence. Don went out to the pool house to check on the progress of the chlorinating system, and was pleased to see that it was finally generating chlorine the way it was supposed to. We all had lunch, and Don went back to the pool to do some cleaning, while the rest of us napped. A little while later, Geri got a call from Joanne, who told her that Matt and Marie had been delayed and would be arriving sometime tonight. OK with me, we won’t be here anyway.
Around mid-afternoon, Geri and Don took off in the truck for who knows where. As it turned out, they didn’t know where they were going, and they wound up on I-95 heading north toward Providence . They gave up on going sight-seeing, and found a Triple A Office, instead, to get some factual information on local attractions. On the way back to Joanne’s they stopped to get a pizza to bring home for dinner. The pizza place they chose to patronize was notable for its name, which they have recorded on a photo. I was very pleased with their choice, and happy that they found it to be highly creditable pizza! I know that the crusts that I got from Don were great!
Back to the truck and back to Worden Pond Family Campground, to find that we had acquired several new neighbors, one from Rhode Island , and one from Florida . Geri took Gracie and I around and introduced us, and we both got appreciative comments and petting from the folks. Back in the rig, Gracie and I competed for attention and treats, and got both before being commanded to quiet down. I went to work on the blog with Don, which we do very quietly, and we all turned in fairly early. Don’t know for sure what’s happening tomorrow, but I suspect we’ll be meeting Joanne’s house guests! Buona Notte, see ya manyana!
