Day 5 – Hot Las Vegas

Good news!  The new BrakeBuddy arrived this morning, to great jubilation.  Don immediately unpacked it and put it in the truck for testing; passed with flying colors!  So it looks like we’ll be rolling out of here tomorrow morning.  I will miss the lovely park and our morning walks there; this morning we met a young fellow, maybe three years old, who was driving a big fire truck!  He was being carefully supervised by his dad, but was doing an excellent job of steering it.  He even avoided running over me!  The grass at the park was particularly inviting this morning, and I must have had at least ten good rolls in it.  There was a baseball game going on there, and I would have liked to have run out on the field to cheer the teams, but Don reminded me that dogs weren’t allowed out there.  Rank discrimination, if you ask me.

When we got back to the rig, we all got involved with another rearrangement of one of the basement storage bins, the one where we keep all the tables and chairs, in addition to beverages.  The plan is to relocate the big table to the back of the truck where it’s handier to get at; Geri promised me that it would be removed whenever I had to ride in the back of the truck.  When that fire drill was completed, we all got back in the rig to enjoy the air conditioning; Geri and I watched some TV, while Don immersed himself in revised trip planning.  Geri called the RV Park in Foxboro, Massachusetts, where we had planned to stay while visiting in Boston with the Yokums and the Arslanians; it’s a huge place, 410 sites.  Guess what, they’re full up over Memorial Day Weekend.  We managed to get a reservation at another park, closer to Framingham, but we were all kind of disappointed that the Normandy Farms deal didn’t pan out.

I guess Geri and Don couldn’t think of anything productive to do, like petting or playing with me, ‘cause they suddenly got into the truck and headed out to one of the money machine places.  They weren’t gone a very long time, but Don seemed very pleased with himself when they got back; guess he won some dog food money.  He took me for a stroll out to the gate area, where the Mad Mocker was in full battle mode.  He even attacked Don several times!  We met a guy with a little white dog who was unnecessarily afraid of me, and Don talked with him for awhile.  Turned out that he was the first person to purchase a site in the park, back in 2002, and was on most of the Park’s current governing boards.  Don would have liked to talk to him longer, but the pesky Mocker was bothering his little dog, and they had to move on.  I managed to make a break for the guard shack, and was rewarded with a splendid treat by the guard on duty.

Shortly after we returned to the rig, Geri got a call from Grandson Matthew, and they arranged to meet for dinner at the local barbeque joint, Famous Dave’s.  I was disappointed that they weren’t coming to the coach, ‘cause they have two young kids that I love to consort with.  But apparently dinner went very well, my folks came back very happy with the get together and the food.  I got my usual evening treats, worked with Don on the blog, and we all got to bed at a fairly time.  Up early tomorrow, ready to roll!
See ya at the next stop!
